The Shire is 165 acres of beautiful land located on Mink Lake in Carleton, Nova Scotia. The purpose of the Shire is to be a gathering ground for the study and practice of how to build a sustainable human future. There are a series of interconnected hiking trails, gardens, organic agriculture and environmentally sustainable facilities and activities.


Home of the Split Rock Learning Centre,
A place for people to learn self-reliance and become equipped in community leadership through residential and non residential programs. With the goal of supporting people who are gaining clarity and making positive life choices.
