Christian Mountain Climbers

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

As a child I grew up in the country and enjoyed the challenges of climbing big hills and walking in the woods. Now as an older person I have physical restrictions which don’t allow me to climb hills , no less a mountain! Years have gone by quickly and my experience in learnig about obstacles in my way of life is renewed every day. as of this Friday I was notified of my layoff from work. This appears to be a permanent notice. At age 61 with a new home and expenses to consider, this could be a problem comparable to mountains I cannot climb. This is a good thing ! This is an opportunity for faith in action. Let’s see what God will do. Most of life is spent by most of us worrying about mostly every detail of concern . Where does it get us? You know! You have lived it. Experienced mountain climbers prepare for the climb ahead. They choose their climbing companions carefully. They know all of the intimate datails of the mountain structure, which face to climb, how high it is, what the expected weather is and on goes the list. The most important detail is , of course, can we get back down safely ? No two mountains are exactly the same. The unexpected weather and rock slides are unpredictable everywhere. The climbers physical and mental endurance must be at it’s peak. Otherwise disaster will visit them suddenly. As people of faith we oftain find mountains of problems in our way. Are we prepared to climb them? The Bible says that God may not move the mountain but He will help us the climb it. We just need to let Him be our guide. Sounds pretty simple, but simple means we have to move out of His way.

That is the hard part. Matthew 21:21 Jesus said, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to this fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain,” Be removed and be cast into the sea, it will be done. And all things you ask in prayer believing, you will receive.”

Do you have a mountain in your life that you cannot climb? By faith in God ask Him to remove it , or start climbing it.Problems do not dissapear through fear, they only grow bigger. Don,t feed it ,starve it!

May all your mountains turn into molehills.

Blessings to all

Fathers Days

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Are you a father? Do you have your children with you or do you get to visit them  according  to the arrangements of the courts? Being a single dad sucks! Can’t afford to take the kids anywhere if your laid off your job, and paying support for them is tough. You know you love these kids but can’t meet their needs. Maybe you can’t be the Dad you really want to be!!! Maybe some other man is trying to be their Dad. Any one can conceive children, but it takes a special man to be a father. It takes a man who can roll with the punches and has the courage to say I’m sorry when wrong. He is committed to give his life for his wife and kids at any time. This courage does not come from human efforts, but from another  worldly  power. Men instinctively want to be able to supply the needs for their mate and kids. When life becomes too out of your control what are you to do? Drink too much. do dope, find a sex partner? Will this make a father more responsible?

A father is not made by his circumstances but by his commitments. Let’s not allow our uncontrollable circumstances control us! God is our Father. He created us,shaped us and made a plan for our lives. Could we men give Him a happy fathers day by doing what he wants us to do ? Get back on track!!!!  The Oracles of God encourage men to take back your life as He has ordained it.

If you are a Christian father and have a life of relative happiness and security in God , please help another father who needs your input! The Bible tells us in I Thessalonians chapter 2 vs 1-16 how men of faith are to encourage other men in life and their faith walk.

I f you are a father with many problems please don’t give up or try to solve these things on your own. Get help from someone who understands. Try this web site www.promisekeepers.ca

Living on the edge in life.

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

” Why did the tire get fired from it’s job ? Because it could not stand the pressure !

Does your home stand on the very edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean ? Have you ever wondered if it would fall someday into the water? When the storms hit and the wind blows or the waves crash against the shoreline, do you some times feel fearful of dropping off into the ocean? Do you live there because you have no choice or because of the sense of danger that comes when you stand on the edge of the cliff. The rush you get from danger is because of an overdose of adrenaline in your system. Some people become addicted to this sensation and it becomes their comfort zone. It stimulates the pleasure center in the brain and can become a lifestyle. Always seeking the thrill, living on the edge.

In the Christian faith there are lots of teachings about how not to live on the edge in life. God desires that in our relationship with Him, we would serve His Son. The Prince of Peace. If we do that in total devotion we will not need to seek out the dangers in life for thrills. We will live in perfect peace, not on the edge of eternity.

David was a man who lived on the edge. He murdered a man, stole his wife, had a broken up family with it”s problems. Always goofing off and the asking God to forgive him. Psalm 17 . Living  on the edge in life with God. Yet he is said to be ” a man after God’s own heart “.

Do we sometimes try to see how far we can push the envelope on disobeying God. just to see what will happen? Is it a rush ?

“Living on the edge of Heaven will cause us to fall into hell ” DWK
Ask God to help you get it together in life and you will be on solid ground.

A Mothers Godly Nature

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Sermon for Nova Scotia

 A Mother’s Godly Nature

A father was showing pictures of his wedding day to his son. “Is that the day mommy came to work for us?” The boy asked.  Quoted from the 365 day clean joke book,

mothers are some times expected to take on God like characteristics. For instance she has to be Omnipotent (all powerful): Omnipresent (everywhere at once) Omniscient (know all things) Here are some examples:

She has to:

  • Heal sick ( mom make it better)
  • Feed the hungry (mom, I’m hungry what’s for dinner?)
  • Raise the dead ( sleeping kids on school days)
  • Protect the innocent( kid says” I didn’t do it”)

·        Enforce the Laws (come right home after school!)

  • Provide shelter (can I sleep with you tonight?)
  • Comfort the hurting (I don’t know why she doesn’t like me!)
  • Be in all places at all times(school, hockey, ballet, music class etc)
  • Provide finances ( mom I need money for lunch, movies , gas, etc)
  • Practice forgiveness (I’m sorry mom!)
  • Never be alone ( can you iron my shirt, etc)
  • Provide advice (mom what `would you do?)
  • Find lost items ( socks , shirts, keys, etc)

And on it goes.

Mothers are made of special stuff and it is always so,

No matter how tired or frazzled she gets she’s always on the go

Her loving arms make a comforting place for the hurting and rejected

With smiles or tears upon her face, she makes you feel protected

With tender care and patience, mom settles disputes and fights

And her love is always unending, as she gives up all of her rights

We take for granted the time and space mom seems to always share

For her this life is just a race to make sure that you get there

Rev. David W Kelly

Have you ever wondered about the female nature of God?

Does He have one?

It is said we are made in His image so what about the creation of the Mother of all mankind EVE. Where did her nature come from?

Genesis 1: 27 – 31+ Genesis 2:22-25

How about the Mother of our Savior, Jesus.

What do Eve and Mary have in common?

They both lost their children to death before they died. Able was murdered by his brother and Jesus was murdered by those He loved.

  1. Both mothers had other children and husbands, but even so they suffered a great loss. One of their children.

Mothers of all ages have suffered and continue to for several reasons.

Jesus made sure that His mother had another son who would share his faith and life with her. John 19.26 John took her to his own home.

Do you have mothers in your community who are living in fear or depression?

What can you do to comfort them or to supply for their needs?

Young mothers with children may need food, clothing, shelter or protection from abusive partners. or men who are not there to care.

Widows may need a friendly visit or food etc.

Mothers of all ages need help in some way, can you help them?

Today we are going to practice a long forgotten sacrament of the church, put into place by Jesus.

Mothers are disciples of Christ and need to be treated as such. So today we here will hold them in special honor as we should every day.

The washing of feet is symbolic of what Jesus did for his disciples and commands us to do in John 13: 14-15

Today my wife will stand in for her daughter in laws and for all young mothers everywhere. For her women friends who are also mothers and accept on their behalf this blessing from God.
